That poor woman. (In the gamecam picture.)

And to realize that she is just one of many that are often brutalized along the way, breaks my heart. And to see how her group left her behind. This unforgiving land is unnerving during the day - it is absolutely terrifying at night.

It's agonizing to think of all those individuals left behind, whether due to injury, illness, or dehydration. And they know full well that leaving someone behind almost always means leaving them to die alone among the thorns, scorpions, snakes, spiders, and animal predators.

Like a child, I just wish all this could all be made better. I certainly don't know where the best place is to start.

So God bless the men and women who are working on trying to figure out what to do.

I mention it in some previous coverage of that photo and other game cam images in the county-- before they abandoned her, they took her cellphone away from her. It's an awful situation all the way around. Luckily, she was found after about 12 days on her own. Very brave and resourceful woman. She built a shelter for herself next to the stocktank. She was trying to reach Houston, originally.

I hope the people that did that rot in hell. Along with all the others that leave people behind.
