Lots of people, myself included, have been fumbling for an explanation as to why so suddenly now, Del Rio, TX is being absolutely crushed at the port of entry by thousands and thousands and thousands of illegal aliens from Haiti.
Speculation has ranged from Cartel involvement, NGO advice to migrants, to “George Soros," which is rapidly and perhaps deservedly becoming a sort of shorthand for “The Bogeyman.”
Here's the link. Senator Cruz basically breaks it down and you really should watch the whole thing, but to summarize: this all has to do with a Joe Biden White House decision to cease all shipment of Haitians back to Haiti. Once word got out to the Haitians already in the United States, they reacted predictably and called home to spread the word: “If you want to come to the USA, there’s no better time than right now. Just do it.” And so they have.
It is tempting, even exciting to indulge in baroque conspiracy theories. It is almost a let down to learn that something so banal, so stupid, so preventable is responsible for such misery.
Could Ted Cruz be wrong? Could this still be a crazy thing, happening as a result of an unholy alliance between shadowy monied interests who want to destroy the United States for difficult-to-articulate reasons? Because they hate our freedoms? Well, sure. It’s entirely possible. But I doubt it. Occam’s razor cuts sharp and deep here.
This comes as the FAA suddenly for unspecified reasons has shut down the airspace over the international bridge. They may have valid reasons, but Occam’s razor cuts the other way here, suggesting that someone in the Executive Branch doesn’t like what they’ve seen of the drone footage people have been taking at the international bridge, showing the scope and absolute state of affairs at the Port of Entry.
It is shameful, and disgusting. Human beings are being forced to wallow in their own filth, in a space that simply cannot contain them in a humane fashion. And yet, the logistical circumstances of the situation prevent improving it to any reasonable degree. Before it’s all over, the population of Del Rio, TX could more than double, with the addition of all the Haitians there and on the way. One imagines you could grab every tent and portable toilet between there and San Antonio, and still come up short. Forget about finding them hotel rooms. What hotel rooms? There are no hotel rooms.
The FAA and whomever else may want to deny or inhibit the circulation of these drone images. That makes me believe they should be spread widely and thoroughly. Was that a hint, reader? It’s entirely possible. Just right click any photo and save, for your own copy suitable for upload to any email, facebook post, or tweet. In the course of tracking images down for this post, I found an excellent series of photos from a Reuters photographer. They appear to be taken from up high— perhaps from the bridge itself. Circulate the hell out of them too, say I.
Fox News reporter Bill Melugin pointed out on twitter, they’ve been up and down the border for months with their drone, with no issues. Suddenly, now, it’s an issue. “The timing is very curious,” as they say. That’s code. Code for: “This doesn’t pass the smell test.” And any reasonable interpretation of events would agree. Over the last 2 years, the credibility of institutions at all levels of government have taken such a hit, that one struggles to believe them, where we once all were perfectly willing to accept them at their word.
Yes. Let’s go get those WMDs in Iraq! Trump let Russian hookers do what? To him where? The Border Crisis isn’t real? America would never abandon its Allies in Afghanistan?
Please.
Is it any wonder that there appear to be significant numbers of Americans unwilling to just “trust the science,” that’s being presented to them about Covid-19?
The death of the U.S. Government’s credibility is perhaps one of the worst things to come of recent events, and will have long-term negative effects for both Democrats and Republicans, and anyone else caught in the middle that hasn’t picked a side yet. Pity us. Pity the world, that it even seems necessary to “pick a side.”

It’s a fast-changing world— have just come across some fairly reasonable discussion about the drone ban, that offers a reasonable explanation for it. Could it still be the result of executive branch meddling? Well, it’s entirely possible!
In all seriousness— going to leave the post intact, unedited, with this correction. Cheers, —Matt
