One of the underreported sideshows in this whole border crisis has been the use of Non Governmental Organizations to facilitate the movement of illegal aliens, refugees, and asylum seekers.
At one point, the Governor’s Office attempted to use DPS to shut down their use of buses to transport illegals around the state, citing Covid concerns. The Federal Government sued to block that measure, successfully.
Many have been asking who are these organizations? Where do they come from? What do they do? Why are they doing this?
The short answer to “who” is Catholic and Lutheran social services, but it’s not really accurate. It’s just a shorthand, expressing the idea that these NGO’s are nominally religious-affiliated.
Perhaps one of the biggest organizations operating in this fashion in Texas is called “Refugee Services of Texas.” They have a great website. Slick and well-designed, it’s so smooth, you realize there’s no way it was put together by the lowest bidder.
Here it is: https://www.rstx.org/ Just as soon as you land on it, you’re hit with a nice splash page, telling you that this is refugee advocacy month, click here to learn how to help. Keep clicking, and you find they’re associated with Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, Church World Service, and Episcopal Migration Ministries. Keep clicking and you find out that it’s not just religious communities paying the bills for these organizations to do their work. They’re also getting substantial funding from the U.S. taxpayer, thanks to support from Homeland Security and other organizations.
Feel free to look them up for yourself, they all seem to have substantial websites, social media, and wikipedia entries.
