Kinney County Commissioners will be meeting in executive session on Monday, to potentially make a final decision on issuing a letter of intent to Garrison Trading Associates.
The Private Military Contractor approached the county some weeks ago, offering to help patrol a 16 mile stretch of border in the county and help “push sideways” some of the illegal alien traffic the county is seeing.
Pushing sideways refers to encouraging smugglers and cartel traffickers to find other, better places to cross the river, for fear of enhanced prosecution, difficulty evading authorities and other factors.
The meeting agenda should be accessible here: Kinney County Commissioners Portal.
Also, find the text of the proposed letter of intent, as well as Garrison Trading Associates’ initial proposal here: Letter of Intent.
Commissioners will be in executive session as they discuss the matter. The last time Commissioners met, the meeting hosted several visitors from outside the county, wanting to see the proposal go forward. Many seemed to believe that doing so would help put pressure on the Federal and State governments to do more about the ongoing border crisis.
