CBP Forcing Employees to Declare Vaccination Status

Results Highlighting Looming Employee Crisis

In the 24 hours since our last newsletter, the Cavalry - Dispatch has been contacted by a small number of workers inside U.S. Customs and Border Protection, mordantly eager to share details of how superiors in the Federal Government are attempting to get some kind of a forecast of what level of compliance they’ll be seeing from rank and file employees facing a choice between their unease with the Covid-19 mRNA prophylactics and continued employment.

Their information is entirely anecdotal, but when combined with previously leaked documents and information that we highlighted in yesterday’s newsletter, suggests tough sledding ahead for the Mandarins in charge at Homeland Security and other federal agencies.

Recall, yesterday’s news that as many as 50% might be refusing the jab, on the basis of a leaked internal Border Patrol document. Our sources tell us employees elsewhere in CBP have been required to log into an internal government website and declare where they stand on the jab— have they taken it? Will they take it? Will they claim religious exemption? Or will they refuse outright?

We are told that some of the stiffest resistance and declarations of refusal are coming from “the old-timers.” Our source describes “the old-timers” as highly placed, key personnel in many areas of CBP’s array of employees, who in many cases have mountains of banked vacation time. Years in some cases. This would allow them to simply go on vacation ahead of the deadline, and either ride it out in some awkward limbo, or force the Government to pay big bucks individually and in aggregate total to buy them out.

Given the recent workload, even rank and file employees are almost certain to have banked up a tidy sum of vacation time. All of this says nothing about what it might be like, if large numbers of high-level employees suddenly went on long-term vacations all at once. The loss to morale, and the sudden gaps in institutional knowledge, and operational organization would be staggering, and perhaps impossible to fully calculate. The deadline remains November 22nd.
